About Us
Hooked by Lade is a crochet-based design studio founded by Nigerian artist and designer Kolade Mayowa Omobólàdé. What began as a childhood craft has grown into a creative practice that transforms yarn into sculptural, functional pieces that sit at the intersection of fashion, craft, and contemporary design.
Each piece is made through the quiet rhythm of crochet: stitch by stitch, by hand. This slow process allows every bag, accessory, or textile form to carry texture, structure, and character that cannot be replicated by machines. The result is work that feels both timeless and personal.
Trained in architecture, Lade approaches crochet with an understanding of structure and form, allowing soft materials to take on presence and shape in unexpected ways.
Beyond creating objects, Hooked by Lade is also rooted in community. Through teaching and mentorship, the studio encourages others to see craft not only as creative expression, but also as a pathway to economic independence.
When you own a piece from Hooked by Lade, you are supporting handmade craft, thoughtful design, and a growing movement that values creativity, skill, and the power of making with one's hands.
